Once upon a time, there was a lonely cat prince named Edward living with his stepfather, a vain and wicked Cat King. The Cat King fears that Edward's handsomeness surpasses him own, so he forces Edward to work as the servant and asks his Magic Mirror daily "who is the handsome one of all". For several years the mirror always answered that the Cat King was, pleasing him.
One day, the Magic Mirror informs the Cat King that Edward is now the handsome in the land. The jealous Cat King orders his Cat Huntsman to take Edward into the forest and kill him. He further demands that the cat huntsman return with Edward's hearts in a jeweled box as proof of the deed. However, the Cat Huntsman cannot bring himself to kill Edward. He tearfully begs for his forgiveness, revealing the Cat King wants him dead and urges him to flee into the woods and never look back. Lost and frightened, the cat prince is befriended by forest tigers who lead them to a cottage deep in the woods. Finding three small chairs
